Competition heats up in Queensland

Friday's practice saw a mix of results, with drivers and teams eager to impress at Queensland Raceway.

Laucke Flour Mills' Mark Laucke and Mirage Racing’s Jason Makris set the fastest times in the first and second sessions on Friday.

Across the two 30 minute sessions, Makris’ time of 1.07.45 was the fastest, the Wolf Tornado driver pleased with a strong start to the round but was wary of the strength throughout the field.

“It’s going to be great racing all weekend,” Markis said.

“There’s some really good guys who are going to be up front tomorrow – it’s going to be great racing all weekend.”

Series leader David Barram was second quickest in the both sessions, eager to extend that consistency across the weekend at his home track.

“The aim of this weekend is to get some more points under the belt - I don’t have to win, I just want to be reliable,” Barram said.

“It is a short track, I expect it will be a close field and a great weekend.”

Qualifying and race one take place on Saturday, while Sunday features two races that will help shape the 2019 title fight.

All sessions on Saturday and Sunday will be live streamed at thenationals.com.au.
